Hi Scott,
The best idea is to connect it to the ignition side of the ignition
switch - that corresponds to the white group of wires at the (OEM) fuse
block. Some alternators require a diode in that connection to keep
things going in the right direction - if that's the case, go get a
1N4002 or 1N4003, and install it with the end of the diode that has a
ring on it connected to the alternator.
Those diodes are pretty generic and you should be able to get them at
Radio Shaft or any equivalent place. I'd send you one but the postage on
it would be about ten times the cost of the diode.
