Well, It appears I may have solved it now. I looked at what I had done
before, and for those of you who recall, I removed the charging system
warning light because of poor wiring. Well, I think it was just hooked
to the battery voltage at the ign switch, and when I hooked a wire back
up to it, without the lamp, the ammeter was in the positive. Does it
sound ok if I do that, or will I drain my system somehow as the car
sits? Hopefully that is all for me for now. Thanks

Here I am, after fixing the Tigers starting problem and it looks
like it is not charging at all on the day I was planning on driving it
to its new location!! I see the ammeter reading Negative amps, and the
battery is the only thing running the engine.
I checked the voltage at the back of the alternator and it is battery
voltage when running, and it goes down as the engine runs. Now, I just
replaced the alt today and no change was apparent. Shouldn't I be able
to check for voltage there to see how many volts it is putting out? I
also replaced the voltage regulator, but that did nothing. I am all
tapped out for quick ideas on what to check and would like to get going
tomorrow morning!!! This should be a simple fix since this is the first
time I have had this problem, but what am I missing? Any help would be
greatly appreciated!!!!
