Don't recommend you try to put a 289 into the car. Tigers are great but
Aplines handle better due to better front steering mechanics and lower front
end weight.

A better option is to put a Pinto 4-cylinder into the car. This engine can
be tweeked to put out upto 300HP. 

Yet another option and one a number of folks have taken is to put a V6 into
the car. In fact there is a fellow on the West Coast who has a kit to do
this. The result is a very nice driving car.
