Go down to Sears and buy a 1 7/16 3/4 drive socket. Then a 3/4 to 1/2
adapter and 1/2 to 3/8 if you need to. The small nut nut on the middle
line is 3/4. Make sure you have new a small gasket to fit the upper
line where it screws into the upper plate. Also make sure that the upper
hose is held away from the steering extension by a clamp. This little clamp
has been lost on many cars over the years. If the upper or lower hoses
hit the steering extension, its only a matter of time before a hole is
worn and you get lots of oil spraying everywhere. Been there. Done that.
Would you believe Easter Sunday in DC with my fiance in 1968? And
it was the dealer who changed the oil.
Please keep in mind the Sunbeam is the product of the finest ENGLISH
engineering. Its measurements and bolts and nuts are NOT metric based.
With rare exception, there is nothing metric on the car.
While the metric system is based now based upon wavelengths of light
it traces its lineage back to scratches on metal bars stored in France.
The English system traces its root to the distance between the end of
the nose to the end of the arm of the current Monarch. God save the King!
