Could happen, I guess. Mine is MK I, though. And the factory flat rate shop
book said to pull the engine to fiddle with the clutch. But yeah, when I used
to drag race mine I could without help, remove the engine in an hour an a
half. Ahhhh to be young and flexible again...

Well, Mayf,
We (my Kiwi mechanic, with me cheering him on and keeping out of his way)
were able to pull the transmission and change it for a Mk II without touching
anything on the engine except the bell housing attach bolts. Of course a
wobbly extension to get that bolt at the top is a required tool. Maybe your
mechanic didn't know this.
I won't say it was easy, as the drive shaft must be detached at the axle to
move it back, the rear motor mount unbolted, and the bell housing detached to
allow it to clear the tranny coming out. But it was not anywhere near as big
a deal as pulling a motor.
One thing, though. That tranny is one heavy piece of iron. ;-)

No, but have humorous story regarding same. When I bought mine in 1967 I had
to do a clutch repair after about 25000 miles. I took it to a shop and when
I went back for it the next Saturday (mechanic had the car 2 days), He said
don't ever, ever, bring that car back here again. I think Holmoan & Moody
Mechanics said the same thing. Unles you notch the frame, you cannot get the
tranny back far enough to get the bellhousing off. So Pull the motor.....

Sorry to bomb the list with this one, but does anyone know of a good shop
in
the eastern mass area that has experience with doing a clutch on a tiger?
