Discrepancies and the CA DMV

The VIN on my california title does not accurately describe the cars VIN.
It is listed at 3800XXXX.

Is this something that is easy to change when I make my trek to the DMV to
transfer title?  Or is this a sleeping dog that I should leave lying?

I would like it accurate, but the LAST thing I need is for a DMV drone to
insist that I need an Assigned VIN number or some other BS.

Does anyone have any experiences along these lines.

And yes I made an attempt to seek out the info at www.dmv.ca.gov
