Mark,
Glad to hear you wont be wearing away at the tubes. I won't quibble
about where to take the power from, only to be sure it is switched with
a square 25-30 amp relay (per Theo) , not the sensor. Still don't like
the failure of the sensor shut will drain your battery. Known and
frequent failure mode.
It really doesn't help much, as they are set at too high a temperature.
I turn my fan on when the temperature exceeds 210, as I know that is
abnormal for my particular car and cooling system. I returns it to it's
normal 200 F fairly rapidly and keeps it there. I turn it off when the
traffic starts moving again.
The automatics are pre-set somewhere nearer 230 f.
