Julian,
It's already happened when gas prices neared $1.85/gal in the midwest. They
were furious and their elected representatives got moving. Investigations of
price fixing, gouging, bills to stop state taxes, etc. Don't know if anything
ever happened, though. They concluded it wasn't price fixing collusion, as the
shortages in supply were real. Don't know if the state ever did roll back their
tax. Crude prices remain high. And the politicians are still talking. They know
how to do that best.
