The choke heat tube conducts heated air from the exhaust
manifold “stove” to the bi-metallic choke actuating “spring”
inside the choke housing. The air is supplied to the manifold
stove by a tube from the inside of the air cleaner to the
stove. There is no vacuum connection. All the mechanical
energy is supplied by the bi-metallic strip reaction to the
heat.
A light spray of WD-40 around the carb area can influence the
idle speed, and reveal potential air intake into the vacuum
system.
