Hi all,
I'm still looking at gearbox options and am looking into the Getrag 5-speed
(probably the 265) or a Toyota Supra 5-speed. Both are offered as kits for
XKEs and the Getrag is supposed to fit easily and work well in Tigers (used
in some South African racing Tigers.)
Could someone tell me the length of the Tiger Mk.2 aluminium bellhousing
(block to gearbox) and also the length of the standard toploader gearbox.
Any suggestions for the best gear ratios for fast road use with the std.
diff. What are the T5 ratios and are they well suited? There are a lot of
different gear ratios for both the Getrag 5-speed and the Supra boxes (W55-W59)
I'm hoping to get all the info, do the conversion and share the results with
the list. Any observations, ideas or suggestions at this stage are very welcome.
Thanks, derek
PS in case any of you are still wondering, my order of preference is firstly
Swedish women, then craft brewed beer, then Tigers. Of course I've never
driven a Tiger but have often driven a Swedish woman (to distraction) and
have enjoyed a good few fine beers. I expect the beer to be relegated soon
but it takes a lot to beat a few good hard laps with a Swedish woman (must
be the Viking blood, cold weather or something.)
