Doug,
When I bought my Tiger last March, one of the first
things I had to do was go through the fuel system. My
car would run fine until I hit second gear and then it
would die. I put in a clear fuel filter right before the fuel
pump where I could see it through the trap door as I
was driving. I could actually watch as the fuel deminished
as the engine requirements increased. I took the rear fuel
line out along with both fuel tanks and the crossover tube.
Found Paint in the fuel tanks and in the crossover tube
and the rear fuel line that runs under the trunk was clogged
with sediment at the first bend. Had my tanks cleaned
and sealed by a local company and I cleaned the fuel lines.
Car has been running fine ever since.
At the time several people told me the factory painted
the inside of the fuel tanks. Ever who asked, your guess is
as good as anyone else on who painted the inside of the
fuel tanks.
Dan
