Tim,
No, not a gimmick. It does improve cooling. I am sorry if I left that
impression. What I meant was that there are a lot of other fundamental issues
that have a more significant effect, and these should not be overlooked for a
feature that is the 'only' good point. Don't believe it will make up for
inadequate tube count, low fin density, or bad brazing.
I had a 4 row "Desert Cooler" on my Mustang that was awful. Changed it for a 3
row
high fin count good product, and it never overheated with the air conditioning
on
at 105F.
Just a matter of priorities, not basic science.
And you are probably correct about the V-6 not being as critical as a V-8, just
conditioned to to putting in the best I can squeeze in. Financial
considerations
must rule, after minimum requirements have been met, however.
