OK. So the count is 4 people who say my new radiator core could work
for my little V6 (including some Modine owners and an anonymous
cooling specialist) to about 3 people who say there's no way in heck.
Hogwash sales gimmick Steve? You just might be right, but it is
possible that my cooling problems are gone (or is it?). You don't
have stock in Modine do you? :)
I never meant to start a major discussion, but it seems there's an
interest. I will let you all know how it works.

Stu,
I sincerely doubt turbulent flow conditions exist,
only "mixing". While there is
a laminar flow layer, the entire tube's profile is very narrow, and
long in the
air flow direction. This aspect ratio, and small cross section,
allow plenty of
heat to be transferred to the air stream. You need a fluid mechanics
expert, with
a little heat transfer knowledge, not an ME, for this one. We are
dealing with a
liquid here, not a gas. I personally think it's a sales
gimmick. Give me lots of
well brazed fins/inch and three/four rows of stagger spaced tubes
that are long in
the air-flow direction, and narrow across.
That, I know, works.
Regards,
Steve
