The LAT options were only homogulated for racing because they were available
from
the 'factory' on new cars. Rootes had a 'final assembly line' in California,
where these parts could be ordered to be on a newly ordered car. This fit the
homogulation rules and allowed 'stock' racing.
The same parts were also available from the dealer, but not from the
manufacturer
- to the normal customer.
So, while your point is understandable, it does not quite fit the facts of the
LAT
case. But, you are not alone. Many sponsoring race organizations would decline
to accept some of the options as "homogulated stock", and it's still going on
today.
