Colin, the clutch hydraulic system is really simple.  You have the
clutch master cylinder, the slave cylinder, and the line running from
the two cylinders.  All of this is out in the open, so to speak.

Look for leaks on the outside of these three items, making sure that the
hydraulic line is not pinched anywhere.  While tight, follow it with
your fingers to feel and smell for any brake fluid.

If none, pull back the carpet on the inside of the car, and see if fluid
is leaking from the clutch master cylinder where the push rod is, into
the car area.  

If so, you will feel, see, and smell brake fluid, as the carpet underlay
will absorb the fluid nicely.  

If so, you will have to clean up everything, as the brake fluid will
take the paint off. Of course, you will have to rebuild the clutch
master cylinder.
