Jim, Wally,

I had Dale install a 16 gallon fuel cell in the location you are
discussing. He had a steel box fabricated and welded it in the bottom of
the trunk. This box was made for the fuel cell to drop inside. About half
the fuel cell sits below the original bottom of the trunk and half above. I
think this modification can be done without any adverse structural effects,
and you can even add some square tubing for more strength, which is also a
good idea just to help support the weight of the 16 gallons of gas. This
modification makes it a little harder to jack up the rear of the car, since
you can't very easily just start with the center of the differential, but
otherwise it works just great. I still retained the original tanks and have
an electrically switched valve to switch between saddle tanks and fuel
cell. With a total of 29 gallons on board, it's time for a kidney break
long before the Tiger's thirsty.
