I see nothing wrong with making a Tiger out of wood as
long as you have proper JAL numbers.
Boy's Life lists some people who sell tips on how to
make your pinewood derby car very fast. Write for the
info. Basically the tips are
1. Position the rear axle as far back and as high
as possible. This will mean drilling new holes.
2. Most important, super polish the axles, making
sure to remove the ridge on the axle head.
3. Sand off the center ridge of the wheels and then
super polish.
4. Adjust the car so that one of the front wheels
is in the air. Three wheelers are faster than
four.
Remember this is a father and son project. Let your
son help a little.
