What's the deal with Smith's clocks. Mine is dead accurate
twice a day.
Tom Wienchek (TE/AE member in SW Chicago) will convert
your Smiths to a quartz movement that uses a battery (1.5 v AA).
He'll even rig it so the battery can be externally mounted somewhere
where changing it is easy. This important in the land where the
winter temp drops well below zero and the battery will freeze.
The only drawback is the two external screws on the faces
become dummies. The clock is adjusted from the back.
Actually you can do this yourself. Just find a 1.5 v quartz
movement that will fit inside the case.
