Hi Guys
on 1/22/99 you wrote
<<<I went to my local parts store to order some gaskets/parts for my engine.
Not to my surprise the neither the kid nor the computer had ever heard of
sunbeam. I don't think they can find a part without a make and model for the
computer. Does any one know of a make(most likely ford) and model I can use
that will get my these parts.

-Oil pan gasket
-valve cover gasket
-oil pump
She is a 66 with a 260ci motor.

Well Doug when I encounter the same problem when have the parts guy look up
the very earliest reference he has for a 289.I usually cite a 64 Mustang or a
Falcon if they need the name of a car line. When ordering ANYTHING for a 260
TIGER engine almost anything for an early (5 bolt rear)289 will work on your
car.EXCEPT PISTONS!!!
I have heard some debate with regards to 260 vs 289(5bolt) starters being
different. When I had my starter go bad I changed over the drive gear "snout"
with the new guts and magnets to make a "good" starter because the 289 piece
was just a hair too long.

A really cool site is <A HREF="http://www.fomoco.com/";>Fomoco Obsolete - home
of Mustang, Ford, Mercur…</A>,the Fomoco obsolete engine page for small bock.
<A HREF="http://www.fomoco.com/";>Fomoco Obsolete - home of Mustang, Ford,
Mercur…</A> is the entry page for all the available data on the engine site.

In the Columbus area there is a Mustang parts supplier-KAR- that is nation
wide.I find a lot of the hard to find stuff(dipstick tubes, speedo
gears, boltkits, etc)there.I am sure any good Mustang restoration supply
specialist would be of help.
Goodluck
Tony
