Bob,

Here we go again.  Another case of "Rural Legends" vs
science. I'll bet you'll get as overwhelmed by “testimonial”
evidence, from "true believers", than by any scientific
explanation.

I'll like to start one about 'inverted push rods' reducing
friction.  Look how well split-ground spark plugs and
magnets on fuel lines sell.  Even "radar jammers" with no
working circuits.

There is always somebody willing to buy snake oil.

There are individuals who were certain that 14 psi radiator
caps cause fatique in aluminum heads.  Others believed that
a 50/50 mixture of grain neutral spirits and distilled water
wouldn't be good as a coolant.  I suggested this. when the
"taste" of antifreeze  from blown open radiator caps,
'tasted bad'.  Figured this stuff would at least taste
good.  Always has, and even better on the rocks with an
olive.

Haven't heard anything more about Mayf's record run.  Think
he took a wrong turn at Bonneville?
