Paul,
I've often thought about the Yamaha built Taurus SHO 6 cyl in an
Alpine, but like you said, are 
there any tranny conversions. I saw a SHO in the back seat of a Ford
Fiesta with the SHO transaxle
running the rear wheels. It would blow the doors off just about
everything on the autocross, and
the Porsche boys hated it.
Just a thought.
