While I agree that the less boring, the better, a first bore of 0.020 is to be
hoped for, 0.040 means a lot of wear. But, I have been to one of these "mass"
re-builders that supply most of the blong and short blocks you see in mass
merchandisers. Every single block on his floor was 0.060. He even had a few
sleeved engines that needed more. Since they cost mim more, he wanted more
(especially for a 5-bolt 289 with no trade). The BEST deal around is the NEW
bare 302's that are being blown out for $265. They are all 6-bolt, roller cam,
and cam bearings only bare. Since they shut down the plant, this may be a good
thing to store (if you've got the room) for the next tiem you need a block.
