Subject: Alger Quiz?
Bill,
The answer to your quiz is a follows:
These Shelby 350 convertions where done @ Beverly Hills Mustang by Jay =
Brunn in conjunction with Carroll Shelby, Shelby had 12 or so yet unused =
1966 titles and vin plates specific to the project he had done in the =
60's.
The cars where torn down and all parts where used to create the balance =
of his original run, this is similar to his current Las Vegas venture =
concerning the Cobra's he is doing.
We can not compare this to the idea or convertion of Alpines, unless =
there are some pre decided unused already exsisting Jal an Vin plates at =
the Rootes facility that where unused, and could be proven, as Shelby =
had to with his project, to be used for a run of Tigers.
Do you know of such a run available ??=20
The taking of Vin's and Jal's and massaging them to Alpines, under =
nothing less than sanctioned guidelines, would be highly illegal to say =
the least.
So as you can see the difference is emence, so let's just stay at the =
issues at hand, and try to keep everyone straight and above board.
If someone wants to do an Alpine convertion, fine, but represent it as =
such, and leave the SaL in tact, and let's not try to fool the =
unsuspecting buyer into anything other than what it is...
Does this clarify your pondering at all ???
See Ya' Jan................
In th early 1980's Carroll Shelby built 12 1966 Shelby GT-350
Convertibles using rust free California cars. If he did the same today
with rust free 1965 Sunbeam Alpines which of the following would be
true?
A. The cars would be 1965 Sunbeam Tigers
B. The cars would be 1997 Sunbeam Tigers
C. The cars would be 1965 Shelby Sunbeams
D. The cars would be 1965 Shelby Algers
E. The cars would be $100,000.00 Sunbeam Alpines
F. The cars would be the topic of the Tiger mail list for at least a
month.
Bill Gullatt - just curious!
