By using the header wrap to retain more heat in the exhaust it will allow the exhaust velocity to remain higher than when it is allowed to cool. Higher exhaust velocity means better cylinder scavenging. This will cause the intake mixture to lean out, and therefore increase the engine temp. The carb should be rejetted slightly richer, and a new set of plugs installed to check to later for the desired "light brown" color. |
