I will certainly go along with THAT statement! I remember destinctly
the British license test for both car and motorcycle. WAY more
comprehensive and difficult than any I've every had in the states! If
memory serves me (never a sure thing these days!) it is quite normal
for the Brits to flunk their test a time or two and have to come back
again. In the 60s they did a "Panic Stop" as part of the driving exam.
The test giver would send you around the block and then crouch down
and jump out from between parked cars!! You had to stop quickly and
with full control of the vehicle! It was a special treat on the
motorcycle! The test giver actually climbed on the bike with you and
gave you directions through the driving test! When we got to the
Panic Stop, I nearly cut a donut hole in the motocycle seat!
