"Diaphragm acc'l pump"
As is the single barrel Holley that comes
with the Judson by Christ!! But there are two positions for the accelerator
pump stroke on this carb, and this is selectable from within the float chamber.
The Judson brothers worked the jetting (and indeed, the entire application) out
on
a dyno. Then proved it on the road. All is ready to go....for a 948cc powered
Spridget...using the prem. leadeds of yesterday (100RON).
Since you won't get more than a 5psi boost
curve or a 4psi boost curve for 1098 and
1275 respectively (assuming the stock
set-up) the main jet for a 948 should supply enough fuel for either considering
the larger motors will be provided with LESS of a boost curve than the 948cc
motor for which the application was intended.
But the off-idle bog now experienced is not
a product of main jetting. I know 'cause I tried larger main jets when this
happened to me!! Not the problem. In my case, setting the accel. pump to the
longer stroke helped quite a bit. Going to a very
slippery throttle cable eliminated the off-idle bog completely, stock main jet
installed.
The main jet will no doubt come in for consideration later in the game,
as engine cooling most likely becomes
a problem considering stock ignition timing
and the garbage premium octane's
of today's normally avail. unleadeds, colder
set of spark plugs notwithstanding.
