Ok,

the one reason to live in Louisiana is that it's a big deal to get  
malpractice cases settled for those exhorbitant amounts.  There is a  
system in place that requires the patient to go through a medical  
peer review and then they can sue and then the max amount is limited  
by law.

umm.. and don't forget, insurance companies don't EVER lower their  
rates.  They will always find a reason to raise them.

MOST IMPORTANTLY.. INSURANCE COMPANIES ARE NOT HERE TO HELP ANYONE.   
THEY ARE HERE TO EARN A REUTRN FOR THIER SHAREHOLDERS.  They do this  
by making it difficult to process claims, and using any excuse to not  
pay what they should.  If lots of money is involved, expect the need  
for an attorney to get the insurance company to pay the money that  
they agreed to pay by contract.
