Well, Jim, that was the case until the Labour Party came into power nine
years ago. Now, doctors make a minimum of #110,000 ($202,400) a year,
and #250,00 ($460,000) is not uncommon. Just last week a doctor on a
remote island in the Hebrides ridiculed the government for paying him
#300,000 ($552,000) a year for doing little more work than when there
were two doctors on the island.
England is now in a national health care crisis, with longer waiting
lists and thousands of employees (including doctors and nurses) being
laid off because there is no more money to pay them. This is but one of
the reasons it is believed that Labour will suffer widespread defeats in
Thursday's elections.
