About 20 years ago my parents decided it might be fun to work as extras in a
movie. They went to a casting agency and signed up. Two weeks later they
found themselves working in a made-for-TV movie with Kirk Douglas and Jason
Robards. The movie was a remake of "Inherit the Wind" and my dad is in
nearly every courtroom scene.

When it was finished they decided that it had been fun, but they didn't want
to do it again and turned down repeated offers from the casting agency for
more work. At the time my dad had an ex-Marine Corps '43 Ford GPW and the
war movie guys really wanted to use it. He turned them down too as he had
heard that the movie people were sometimes pretty hard on rented vehicles.
