WOW!
I have John's book "Spritely Years" and considered it a 'collectable' but no
way near the amount the current bid is! My copy is signed (twice) by John and
is also signed by Bic, Margo, and Roger. Wonder if that makes it more
'valuable' or less? :>P
I agree that if someone just collects signatures for resale the signer should
be part of that equation. Those individuals devoted their lives to the sport
and their rewards (for the most part) were minor compared to the compensation
'modern' drivers/builders/owners get today. However, I think the case here is
just someone divesting their collection. If they return with duplicates of
these auctions ..... well then it would fall into the category of someone
profiting from others accomplishments and then they should be compensated.
I know it goes against the grain with these people (Bic, John, Margo, Roger)
but they could make some $ if they wanted too. John always 'jokes' that by
signing something he makes it worth less than what is was.
