While I can imagine that there is some sort of special enjoyment to the
masochism of driving a stock BE on a mountain road, there is an undeniable
thrill to driving a 1275/5sp BE on a mountain road and blowing the doors off
the occasional Miyata and carrying as much speed as you dare into a corner,
as opposed to carrying in all you can. I do remember the look of
contentment and satisfaction on Crash's face as we drove in the mountains
together some time ago. I remember how pleased he looked (in my rearview
mirror.)
As far as car shows, the ones around here stink. The Palo Alto show gives
virtually no awards, and even my own club (UBSCC) is mostly Triumph guys who
have a class for every incremental sub-class of Triumph and lump all the
Spridgets together, and most everything else into "other British".
Then theres that damn Chico show that offers awards for all the classes,
separates the BEs and spridgets, and has good food. So what's the problem?
They awarded the ribbon to the better looking BE instead of mine!
