Peter, that statement baffled me. I (almost) immediately went out to the
garage and dug up a driveshaft and transmission to verify this claim. I can
now say with certainty that it does NOT apply to ribcase transmissions and
driveshafts from RWA Midgets, as I was able to insert the driveshaft in any
relationship to the output shaft that I wanted. Are Bugeyes that different?
I thought that the original driveshaft could be retained when converting to
the time-honored 1275 with ribcase...
BTW, what is so hard about inserting the D/S afterwards? It is a one-man
operation that takes under five minutes start to finish with Frank C nowhere
in sight. Just wrap some electrical tape around the front u-joint to keep
the nose up, jack up the back of the car, slide in with a flashlight so you
can see the tailshaft of the trans and slide her home. NBD
