Hi, Folks... I am writing this email from my father-in-law's house. I have the
Lotus and Bugeye here too. Don't know if my house survived or not - it was both
in the path of the biggest fire, the "Cedar Creek" fire, and another which
flared up from a "hot spot" after burning a few houses up the road. I am going
to try and check if my house is there this morning- don't know if the area is
still off limits- quite a few affected areas are. As both phones and power are
down in the area, I cannot just pick up the phone and ring to see if there is
an answer- that would tell me at least if there is one wall still standing!
In case you guys don't know, as of this morning the count of burned houses in
San Diego county was 800 to 900, well over 200,000 acres burned (possibly as
many as 350,000), and all 3 fires still burning. At least 13 dead too. My
neigbor's son said he saw a man burn to death on the roof of his house. He was
trying to save his house with a water hose.
Jacques, evacuated to Spring Valley, signing off.
