While there is nothing wrong with the
felt in cannister filters, the newer Unipart
spin-ons have a magnetic (metal) trap and
also an "anti-drainback" valve which gets
oil to the bearings faster on cold starts.

So, from the foregoing I feel they are well
worth the "conversion". Of course, an oil
cooler is a good thing if you do any high speed (high rpm) sustained
driving, most
especially in summer weather. Otherwise,
with today's excellent mineral and most
especailly synthetic oils, it's not really
needed for around town or unsustained
high rpm work.

Obvioulsy, VB's conversion kit is designed
with oil cooler hose fittings in mind or
something like that.

I will contact you off-list with an email
giving a supplier who may have a 
conversion kit (or be able to point the
way in this respect) in the event you
wish to go this way.
