I'm not sure I understand the cockin' around necessary to go to 8" rear
brakes on a Sprite.
More often than not, if you invest in new rear drums (stock... cheap, and
adjust them right) and a good performance front pad, and all your hydraulics
are in order, a Sprite out to be able to outbrake anything (mine do). Most
go cheap and try to adjust rear brakes with new shoes and worn out drums.
Also, I use a kevlar shoe available from Winner's Circle. On the race cars,
a Hawk Blue pad, but there are a number of good pads available for street
use.
