Jon,
It could be from an early Morris Minor. I was checking the shop manuals I
have and it looks like the groove was not on early models. the Morris rear
brakes and hubs are identical to the Bugeye.
You might also consider Hylomar if you have a leaking problem. I think it
may work better than silicone.
