My clutch master cylinder took a powder last week. When I removed the
slave cylinder it was shot. The fluid that was in the cylinder was
grey and filled with chucks, snot, rust and lord knows what else. I
am willing to bet that fluid has been in the system since 1977. The
fluid had almost turned to mud. I guess with changing the brake fluid
you should also do the clutch hydraulics. Where the slave was not
pitted, it has this really hard black build on the cylinder walls.
It smelled sort of bad also.
