I take a piece of wire (coat hanger if you got one) and make a U shape in it.
Put
it in the opening at the rear of the shifter opening and have an assistant (read
S.O., if you got one) put the driveshaft into the tunnel. As the front yoke
becomes visible you hook it with your wire and gently guide it into the rear of
the tranny while cursing quietly and yelling instructions to the assistant under
the car. OR, you could pull a seat and cut a huge gaping hole in the tunnel that
will allow you to reach in and put it on by hand (a DPO did this to our 68, I
had
to make a cover plate because this was wide open under the Clarici Carpeting
that
the DPO had installed) I hope one is these options works well for you. Brad
