YES!

First, follow Dan's recommendation to check the end float on the crank.

When you are ready to crank the engine, check these items first!

1.Remove plugs and squirt a little Marvel Mystery Oil into the cylinders.

2. Make sure you are getting a spark from he electronic ignition
distributor. They are usually dead. You can substitute a dizzy from an
A-series for testing purposes if the electronic one is dead.

3. Remove the cover of the mechanical fuel pump and make sure the diaphram
is not stuck in place from old gas. If it is stuck, a little gentle
maipulation with a small blunt instrument may free it.

4. There is an O-ring in the bottom of the float bowl that will dry out
after sitting dry for a long time. Remove the plastic plug and replace the
O-ring since this is about a 25 cent investment. A bad O-ring will allow
gas to drain (profusely) onto your exhaust manifold.

5. MOST IMPORTANT. Check your fuel line hoses between the gas tank and the
fuel pump. There is a rubber fuel line hose near the rear of the
transmission that connects two metal sections and is below the bottom level
of the gas tank. If the hose breaks, it will drain all the remaining fuel
from the tank. This actaully happen to me on the '75 Midget I had in my
garage. Luckily I happened to catch this after only about a gallon had
drained onto the floor and before my house caught fire!

6. If the shifter is stiff, lubricate the shifter linkage (remove the shift
boot) before contemplating a bad tranny.

7. Because the flexible clutch line passes through the battery tray, inpect
whether battery acid has trickled down the hose to your slave cyinder. Mine
would have been fine were it not for the damage the previous owner did by
dousing the battery with baking soda and water. All the mess drained down
to the clutch slave.

These are all actual experiences I had with the '75 Midget that were
outside the general things you would expect.

Is there anything else really important I may be missing?
