The 6Pack list had this discussion not too long ago. You can check the
archives for more but one of the intelligent sounding guys said to do a
mixture of full throttle acceleration followed by fully closed throttle
decelerations. He had some scientific reasons for it which escape me right
now but it had to do with lubrication and vacuum.
I have always ran the full RPM range and avoided constant speeds until the
break in was over.
