Are you replacing the leafs with 30-35 year old used leafs?
This would explain why you keep breaking them.
Of course the new leaf springs that are available leave a lot to be
desired, they do beat making up a set out of 30 year old rusty leafs.
Oh, just to rub it in a little bit, I just happened across a New Old
Stock set of 1/2 leafs at a spring shop. The owner said they are 30 +
years old but never installed. Complete with AHA part number. He was
happy to find a sucker like me to buy them. I was happy to buy them and
the owner was thrilled to finally sell them. Now if he only had a pair
of 1/4 leafs in stock.
