After working with too many chewed up Phillips drive screws on the rear
brakes and axles by DPOs, I've converted both my street car and the vintage
race car to allen head screws. As long as the screws don't rust, they
should be easy to remove. My experience has been that the POs never touched
them regularly, so they were really rusted in and then, when they needed to
remove them for a brake job or to replace the axles, they chewed them up
trying to break the rust bond. In either case (axle or brake drum) it's
the wheel nuts that really hold the rear end together, not the little screws.
