I did the following
same car
before:
HIF6, K&N housing and filter, Maniflow LCB, monza style exhaust, 1380,
Kent 266 cam, standard rockers, Longman GT6 head
after:
DCOE45, K&N filter and housing, Brownrigg LCB exhaust, much better muffler
(in
terms of performance), 1380, 1.5 roller rockers. same cam, same head.
Difference? Not that noticable It was maybe 5 or 10 HP which reprensented 5%
or 10% I guess. (Mini Mania claimed the 'before' setup was 115 HP, but it
was
more like 95)
For what the change in setup cost me, it wasn't worth it, even though the
sound of the Weber is always nice! I ended up uping the cam to a 286, then
swapping the cam
to a race/rally cam and swapping the head to a full race. That is the
current setup
and it is now around 130HP. Much nicer!
In summary? Well, the HIF6 worked well and didn't seem to be a drain on
performance
for the hot road setup. The gains I saw on the change were almost certainly
due to
rockers, extractors and muffler.
However, for the current setup there is no way I'd go for the HIF6 but the
engine is
a totally different animal now.
