I was going to do that, but I couldn't see how to shorten it without
losing the sliding contact for the horn. Did you retain this contact?

Hi Ulix,
I had the column shortened nearer the base by a company that are expert in
shortening propshafts! I think that the cut and pinned it and then welded it
up. There are I guess numerous ways to safely cut'n'shut the column (this
the column in a 69 car). I would have preferred to have the bottom end of
the column cut and a fresh clamp welded on but the original clamp is friction
welded or whatever.
It is necessary to shorten the indicator shroud and bend the indicator stalk
straight and stuff like that too.
The horn contacts and all the fancy machining and splining at the end of the
column remain untouched.
