I believe the California spec midget 1500 is also a different head/compression
from the 'Federal' spec. It may have been the head and not the pistons, but I
can't recall.

Ahh...the pistons...yes. I didn't know they were different for European specs,
but I did manage to order a set of "high compression" pistons for my current
rebuild. They, as I recall, are 9:1, and are flat topped. Victoria British
D'Lites.
