Ok, just had to join in. While my Bugeye was actually in pretty decent
condition when acquired 20 years ago, one of the DPO's, apparently too cheap
to buy good tires and who was tired of wrestling a repaired spare out of the
boot, had installed a "Continental Kit" on the rear of the Bugster. That's
right, a bolt on tire carrier.

Now, this would not have been a major problem, had he not backed into a
telephone pole somewhere along the way. The boot had a major cave-in in the
location of the continental kit as a result. Also, the front had been hit at
some time, and to repair, it appears they cut off the front frame extensions,
and welded them back on with some 3/16" flat stock...and the welds were quite
ugly. To top this off, the fender braces which attach to the radiator
uprights had also been welded in place.
