I just had the Smith's original speedo off my '60 bugeye rebuilt by Palo
Alto Speedo for $115 (plus $5 for an o-ring, plus return shipping, plus
of course the cost of shipping it there, whew). Looks very nice now.
It was calibrated at the same time -- it appeared much more accurate
than it used to be in the one quick trip around the block I've taken it,
although it still seems to bounce around a lot more than I would like.
My generator has gone south, so I haven't driven it any more than that
yet.
