In England a ferule used in a compression fitting is referred to as an "olive".
I believe in your case it would be a brass olive.
Hope this helps.

Subject: Two trivial questions:
Hello all,
I am so close to starting this engine I can smell it! Silly things keep
stumping me though.
Question #1: Starter
Should the stud where the starter is powered be away from or toward the
enigne block?
Question #2: Tank "olive"
When I took the outlet fitting from my fuel tank, there was a little slug
inside that the catalogs refer to as a "tank olive". Was this welded or
soldered or brazed to the fuel line? Why such a goofy connection? A
simple flare fitting should have been fine. What are my choices?
