Best between sessions repair we did was at Watkins Glenn one time where the
pilot bushing in the end of the crank went. Pulled the motor/tranny, split
them, diagnosed the problem, got the remains of the old bushing out, went
into town, slapped the thing on the counter, parts guy did what TRUE parts
guys always do - said I think I got one o those - and did, something for
some bizarre tractor as I recall, then back to the track and in you go.
At mid ohio last year, someone blew up the chev V-8 engine in his sports
racer. They went down the street, pulled one out of a school bus in the
wrecking yard, put it in, fired it and finished the weekend.
