Joe is right on the mark. I might add the caution that there are are two TDC 
positions in each rotation of the crank. Be sure you have the one where 
cylinder 1 is ready to fire and not the other one. One way is to watch the 
valves, the intake and exhaust valves are both closed for the compression 
stroke as you approach the firing position (crank turning forward, of course).
